Our Elders
The Bible enumerates these duties and obligations of an elder:
- 1. They help to settle disputes in the church. (Acts 15:1-2)
- 2. They pray for the sick. (James 5:14)
- 3. They watch over their church in humility. (I Peter 5:1-4)
- 4. They support and encourage the spiritual growth of the congregation. (Hebrews 13:17)
- 5. They spend time in prayer and in teaching the word of God. (Acts 6:2-4)
Simply put, the elders are peacemakers, prayer warriors, teachers, leaders by example, and decision makers. The elders of the Jacksonville Beach Church of Christ have been members of this congregation for many years, and were selected by the congregation for their leadership qualities and loving concern for the church as a whole, as well as its individual members.
